Content Topics and Themes
Session One: You are More than Just an Athlete
Sport is amazing, and our athleticism is a gift. For the majority of athletes their worth is tied up in their persona as an athlete: in their performance, success, body, coaches and teammates opinions of them. We take a step back and look at the true source of our worth- being Daughters of God, and how that can positively impact our view of self, view of sport, and they way we approach the pressures we face as female athletes.
Session Two: The Female Athlete Body
As female athletes are bodies look different than other women. We are stronger, fitter, and carry more muscle. As a result, there is a lot of negative stigma surrounding the human body and the majority of women are hypercritical of their bodies. We discuss the beauty of being both strong and feminine, and what God intended for our bodies.
Session Three: Feminine, Faithful and Athletic
We move beyond the body of the athlete, and look at the source of our drive: the heart. It takes a lot of grit and guts to do what we do. We will look at our motivation, but also the ways that the grind of sport has left us injured, frustrated and confused. We will discuss what it means to play out of our femininity, and how we can be the best we can be both physically and spiritually as female athletes.
Session Four: Integrating God and Sport
God doesn’t need to wait on the sideline. He is an active part of our daily trainings, competitions, and team. In this talk we will reinforce the themes of the Clinic so far, as well as talk about how we can continue to integrate our faith into our personal lives and training, but also how we can be a leader and witness on our teams. We will discuss the pressures we face, and practical ways to both maintain and share your faith.
Practical Application
Each physical session will have a focus that teaches participants several practical themes, including:
Motivation and gratitude
Offering up workouts
Dealing with negative self-talk and discouragement
Being a witness
