be Fierce:

A Journey toward Physical and Spiritual Growth for Female Athletes

ONE

Sport is amazing, and our athleticism is a gift. For the majority of athletes, their worth is tied up in their persona as an athlete: in their performance, success, body, coach’s and teammate’s opinions, etc. In this talk, we take a step back and look at the true source of our worth—being Daughters of God—and how that can positively impact our view of self, view of sport, and the way we approach the pressures we face as female athletes.

TWO

As female athletes, our bodies look different than other women. We are stronger, fitter, and carry more muscle. As a result, there is a lot of negative stigma surrounding the human body, and the majority of women are hypercritical of their bodies.

In this talk, we discuss the beauty of being both strong and feminine, and what God intended for our bodies.

THREE

The majority of Americans spend their Sundays watching sports. And while there is a negative stigma around the idolization of sports in today’s society, we have to realize God created sport. He also created the human body that is able to execute them.

In this talk, we look at the intersection of our physical and spiritual lives, what sport can teach us about faith, and how our faith can influence the way we play, view, and compete in sport.

FOUR

Today women face so many pressures when it comes to their femininity, identity, sexuality and relationships. It can be very hard to navigate. In light of John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, we discuss what it means to be a woman, the beauty of both our bodies, hearts, and sexuality, and how to live these teachings out in today’s culture.

Wonderfully Made:

A Theology of the Body Retreat for High School Girls

ONE: Identity: Who Am I? Who is God?

This talk looks at what we base our own self-worth off of. We take a look at what our culture says verses what the Lord says about who we are as Daughters of God. In order to understand the depth of our worth, our uniqueness, and what we are called to we will also look at the Gospel and what God did for us.

TWO: The Female Body

There is a lot of negative stigma surrounding the human body. The majority of women are hypercritical of their bodies. This talk looks at the creation story, the uniqueness of the female body, and what God has intended for our bodies.

THREE: The Female Heart and Desire

We are body and soul. Since the female body was already discussed, this talk looks interiorly at the female heart and soul. We take a look at our deepest desire, our hearts and the common pitfalls that we can fall into when we search for love. This talk ends with an invitation to deeper healing through the upcoming Adoration and Confession.

FOUR: A New Creation

This talk addresses what to do now that we have experienced the healing of God and learned deeper truths about ourselves as women. We talk through the practicals of healing, and how to continue to deepen our relationship with the Lord, and make a gift of self to our family, friends and community.
